THE CROSSROADS CHRISTIAN CHURCH STORY
Crossroads Christian Church was established on March 15, 1987, when a small group from a church in Napa committed to prayer and planning for the vision of a church plant in Solano County. The group purchased land and a restaurant to serve as a Community Center on Alamo Drive, later relocating to their buildings and a nearly 10-acre property on Butcher Road in 1997.
Dean Pense was the founding pastor with an incredible gift of faith and a heart for church planting. While being the Senior Pastor of Crossroads, he also served as the Executive Director of the Northern California Evangelical Association (NCEA) and was personally part of 49 church plants. Crossroads planted four churches in Solano and Yolo Counties under Dean’s leadership.
Dean Pense retired (due to health reasons) in 2000 and a young pastor named Jon Kile was hired as the new Lead Pastor. NCEA had been interviewing Jon for another church plant in Northern California and he got to know Crossroads through that process. Jon, being an Evangelical Free Church pastor, joined Crossroads on the hope to teach exclusively reformed theology. Unfortunately, this move split the church and Jon left with about half of the attendees to plant Faith Community Church in 2002. Bruce Gallaher, the Associate Pastor then, was hired as Lead Pastor. Bruce served as the Lead Pastor from 2002 to 2022 and under his shepherding they have been able to forgive, heal, and move on to become a vibrant and healthy church again.
Sean Peters was hired as the Lead Pastor in 2022 after serving as the Associate Pastor for 14 years. He loves the Word, the church, and the community and wants to impact the city for Christ. He believes and is passionate about outreach both locally and globally. Through the Youth Sports Programs, Youth Ministries, Marriage Ministry, Celebrate Recovery, and partnerships with churches and ministries worldwide, Crossroads is seeing many people come to Christ (42 people were baptized at Crossroads last year). Their motto is “Go Be The Church” and they know that is the only way to change the world.
