THE BLUEPRINT CHURCH STORY

Pastors Matthew and Falyn Davis launched Blueprint Church with three services on January 28th, 2024, in Houston, Texas with close to 1,800 people in attendance. Having service in the city of Houston at a concert hall, the church has become one of the country’s fastest-growing churches, seeing over 1,300 people weekly just six months in.

Blueprint has been extremely busy for the first six months. In this time, the church has seen nearly 1,500 decisions for Jesus, given nearly 100,000 meals to the city of Houston, and has also given over $30,000 to church planting. Blueprint is on track to remain one of the fastest-growing churches in the country and is one of the premier churches in the city of Houston attracting many young adults and families.

JOB SUMMARY

Blueprint Church is seeking a highly skilled, ministry-minded Production Director to lead the technical and operational execution of all worship experiences and live events.

This individual will ensure that every Blueprint service—both in person and online—is technically excellent, distraction-free, and spiritually powerful. The Production Director will oversee audio, lighting, video, stage design, and broadcast systems, building teams and structures that support Blueprint’s mission to make disciples in the city and beyond.

The ideal candidate is both technically sharp and relationally grounded—a calm problem-solver who thrives under pressure, loves developing people, and views production as worship, not performance. ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Service & Event Production

• Lead all technical production elements for weekend services, midweek events, and special experiences (Easter, Christmas, Worship Nights, etc.).
• Oversee audio, lighting, video, and broadcast execution for main services and satellite environments.
• Create and communicate the technical flow of services, ensuring clear cues, smooth transitions, and strong collaboration across teams.
• Lead and participate in weekly production and creative planning meetings. Direct pre-service briefings and rehearsals to ensure alignment between Worship, Production, and Creative teams.
• Serve as the on-site lead during services, troubleshooting technical issues in real time with grace and composure.

Systems, Equipment, & Operations

• Oversee the operation, maintenance, and upgrades of all AVL systems and equipment.
• Develop and maintain documentation, system diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for consistency across teams and campuses.
• Maintain Planning Center scheduling, content uploads, and production notes.
• Partner with Facilities and IT to ensure technical systems are safe, efficient, and scalable.
• Research and recommend new technologies that enhance Blueprint’s production excellence and long-term sustainability.

Team Leadership & Volunteer Development

• Lead, train, and pastor a team of staff and volunteer production leaders across audio, lighting, video, and broadcast.
• Build strong pipelines for volunteer recruitment, training, and leadership development.
• Mentor and equip volunteers to understand both the “how” and the “why” behind production—fostering a heart for ministry, not just mechanics.
• Create and maintain rotation schedules, training sessions, and team development meetings.
• Foster a healthy team culture marked by unity, joy, excellence, and spiritual growth.

Collaboration & Communication

• Partner with the Creative Director and Worship Pastor to bring vision to life through technology, design, and storytelling.
• Collaborate with ministry leaders (Students, Kids, etc.) to resource their production needs and support their events.
• Provide creative input on stage design, lighting schemes, and visual presentation.
• Work alongside the Communications and Video teams to ensure seamless integration between live environments and digital storytelling.

Budgeting & Stewardship

• Create and manage the annual production budget, balancing innovation with fiscal responsibility.
• Oversee purchasing, repairs, and maintenance while maximizing the lifespan of all AVL assets.
• Obtain quotes, manage vendor relationships, and steward all external rentals and technical partnerships.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• 33–5+ years of experience in live production, AVL, or technical direction (church or large event environment preferred).
• Proven experience leading large teams and managing live services in dynamic environments.
• Advanced knowledge in:
  • Audio Systems: e.g., DiGiCo, Allen & Heath, or Yamaha digital consoles.
  • Lighting Systems: e.g., MA, Chamsys, Vista, or similar.
  • Video Systems: e.g., Blackmagic, Ross, Resi, or other broadcast tools.
  • Software: ProPresenter, Ableton, Planning Center, Dante, and Waves.
• Strong understanding of stage design, set builds, and environmental lighting.
• Proficient in setup/teardown operations and the unique logistical needs of a portable church.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to stay calm and solution-oriented under pressure.
• Effective leadership and communication skills, able to inspire both staff and volunteers.
• Spiritually mature, humble, and aligned with Blueprint Church’s mission and theology.
