THE BECOMING CHURCH STORY
The Becoming Church was birthed in the heart of a global crisis — the 2020 pandemic — and stands today as a testament to God’s faithfulness, authentic community, and the beauty of diversity. In a time marked by uncertainty, division, and fear, Pastors Michael and Katie felt a clear and courageous call from God. In June of that year, they set out on their “Abraham journey, ” leaving behind what was familiar to relocate to Huntsville, Alabama, without full clarity on what lay ahead. Through prayer, fasting, and the wise counsel of mentors, their calling became unmistakable: to plant a vibrant, life-giving church that would bring hope and healing to the city.
The earliest seeds of The Becoming Church were planted around a simple kitchen table in December 2020. By March 2021, Michael and Katie were building relationships across Huntsville, forming what would become the church’s launch team. Those early days were marked by personal connection, faith-filled conversations, and word-of-mouth invitations that reflected the very heart of the church’s mission — uniting people to purpose.
On February 27, 2022, The Becoming Church officially launched with a passionate team of forty-five people who gathered in hotel ballrooms and community spaces to create a place where people could encounter God and find family. What began as a step of faith has grown into a thriving, multi-generational church impacting Huntsville, Madison, and beyond. In just over three years, The Becoming Church has seen record-breaking salvations, baptisms, and attendance — each number representing a story of transformation. People are discovering community through B Groups, stepping into leadership, and learning to live out their God-given purpose. The church has become a home where faith is strengthened, families are restored, and lives are forever changed by the power of the Gospel.
Today, The Becoming Church continues to grow in influence and impact, with an expanding staff, a flourishing Dream Team, and partnerships that stretch across the nation and around the world. From investing in church plants and global missions to serving schools and neighborhoods throughout Huntsville, the church’s reach is steadily multiplying. While growth brings challenges, the people of The Becoming Church see them as opportunities — moments to stretch faith, deepen dependence on God, and step boldly into the limitless future He has prepared. They believe the best is yet to come, that God is not finished, and that the story of The Becoming Church is still being written — one life, one family, one story at a time. JOB SUMMARY
The Becoming Church Kids Director is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the spiritual formation and discipleship of children and supporting families at The Becoming Church. This leader develops and leads engaging, children-centered ministry environments, equips and cares for volunteer leaders, and builds meaningful relationships with children and parents. The ideal candidate has a heart for kids, strong communication skills, and a passion for building a thriving, life-giving children’s ministry.

- Experienced in leadership within a church or ministry setting, demonstrating the ability to oversee complex projects and diverse teams (minimum of 3 years).
- Proven track record of growing teams and developing leaders.
- Administrative, with a knack for developing efficient systems and processes.
- Exceptional communicator with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Committed to personal spiritual growth with a strong relationship with Jesus.
- Business-minded with a heart for ministry.
- Degree preferred, but experience may be considered in place of formal education.
- Possesses a strong drive, humility, and a proactive work ethic.
- Able to think on their feet and make quick, effective decisions.
- Flexible, goal-driven, and consistently meets deadlines ahead of schedule.
- Strategic thinker with a focus on systems and scalability.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead children and their families to follow Jesus.
- Invite, train, and empower volunteers, and maintain a monthly volunteer schedule.
- Follow up with individuals who are interested in volunteering with kids ministry.
- Lead creative team meetings with appropriate team members to implement curriculum on Sunday mornings.
- Develop or select a strategic curriculum that engages biblical literacy and supports the spiritual development of children from nursery through elementary school.
- Oversee communication between the church, children, and families.
- Provide resources for parents and families as needed.
- Oversee the setup and operation of all kids ministry environments on Sunday mornings.
- Oversee the kids ministry budget and plan select special events as needed.
- Participate in staff meetings and other scheduled meetings.
- Partner with the church on marketing efforts designed to inform students and families of ministries and events.
- Facilitate or provide a spiritual training program to equip teachers to cultivate spiritual relationships and present the Gospel.
- Utilize and maintain resources to meet the spiritual needs of the kids ministry.
- Develop a discipleship program for middle school students.

What began around a kitchen table quickly grew into a passionate launch team and on February 27, 2022, The Becoming Church officially opened its doors.
In just a few short years, the church has become a thriving, multi-generational community marked by authentic discipleship, B Groups, and leadership development, people are finding community, discovering purpose, and growing in their faith.
