OVERVIEW

The Student Director is responsible for building and leading a thriving, life-giving student ministry that reaches middle and high school students. This role exists to create environments where students encounter God, build authentic relationships, and take next steps in their faith journey—while partnering closely with parents and the broader City Hills leadership team. The Student Director is a vision-carrier and culture-builder, leading with passion, excellence, and spiritual authority. They will recruit, train, and empower a growing team of leaders, cultivating a culture of ownership, discipleship, and joy. This role drives the creative and strategic development of City Hills Students, ensuring that every service, event, and gathering reflects the DNA and mission of City Hills Church. Ultimately, the Student Director will build and multiply healthy teams, develop future leaders, and champion the next generation— helping students know God, find freedom, discover purpose, and make a difference.

PERSONAL PROFILE

  • Ability to communicate the Gospel through various methods to students of all ages.
  • Strong communicator and teacher.
  • Demonstrated leadership background and experience serving in student ministry.
  • Genuine heart for students and families.
  • Ability to recruit, grow, and lead the Dream Team.
  • Project management experience, including events and services.
  • Ability to articulate and implement the vision of City Hills Church.
  • Exceptional leadership and communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for working with a variety of people, including Dream Team members, staff, parents, and students.
  • Positive attitude and proactive approach to problem solving; solution-oriented mindset.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with a commitment to excellence and attention to detail.
  • Has experience in medium-sized student ministries (50+) and large church contexts (1,000+), with the ability to grow student ministry in both attendance and engagement.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES

Student Ministry Oversight:

  • Build and lead a vibrant Student Ministry for middle and high school students that reflects the heart and mission of City Hills.

Team Leadership:

  • Recruit, develop, and empower Coordinators, Team Leads, and Dream Team members to serve effectively within City Hills Students.

Weekend & Midweek Experiences:

  • Plan, prepare, and execute weekly Student gatherings that are dynamic, creative, Spirit-filled, and relevant— helping students take next steps in their faith.

Culture & Discipleship:

  • Develop a culture of worship, discipleship, and fun— creating environments that engage students spiritually and relationally.

Events & Camps:

  • Lead and coordinate major events such as camps, retreats, outreach nights, and special student initiatives.

Parent Partnership:

  • Foster intentional communication and partnership with parents to equip families as the primary spiritual influencers in their students’ lives.

Communication & Collaboration:

  • Work closely with other ministry directors to ensure unity across the church and alignment with church wide vision and events.

Leadership Development:

  • Establish a student leadership pipeline—identifying, discipling, and deploying young leaders for ministry and influence.

Safety & Systems:

  • Maintain safety protocols, volunteer onboarding processes, and clear systems for communication, follow-up, and care.
