FAMILY CHRISTIAN CENTER STORY
In October of 1993, what is now Family Christian Center began humbly—in a living room.
Fueled by faith and a clear calling, a small group gathered to worship, pray, and dream of
what God might do. Just three months later, in January 1994, the church moved into the
Women’s Garden Club, quickly outgrowing the living room. That same year, gatherings
shifted again to Clermont Elementary School, and then to DJ’s Auto Body Shop—now
known as Gerber Collision & Glass—just south of where the church stands today.
By 1995, the church had moved into the IGA Plaza, where it experienced rapid growth. After
merging with Warrior’s Home Church and spending a brief season in Antioch Oakland’s
new building, the congregation found itself starting fresh once more in Jenkins Auditorium.
In 1997, services began at the Ninth Grade Center Auditorium, where the church remained
for five years. In 2002, for a short four months, they borrowed the building of the Church of
the Nazarene.
In February 1999, Family Christian Center purchased 34 acres of prime land on Highway 27
with no money down. Finally, on September 29, 2002, the church held its first service on
their own property, in what is now the Gr8Kidz room—welcoming 150 people. Growth came
quickly. Within a year, four services had been added to accommodate the increasing
attendance.
The vision continued to expand. In 2004, Family Christian Center Preschool was founded
for infants through age four. A year later, in 2005, a new modular was added to serve more
than 1,400 people across 11 weekend services. Between 2009 and 2012, the church
expanded into education—adding classrooms, launching Florida State VPK, and founding
Family Christian Center School, which grew from kindergarten through 12th grade in just a
few years. In 2010, a food pantry was established, now distributing over 70,000 pounds of
food annually. In 2011, SKY ZONE—a full-scale indoor trampoline park—was launched as
both a business and outreach to the community.
In 2019, a tournament-size soccer field was added, now used by Orlando City Soccer and
open to the public. Then, in 2022, the school expanded again with an 11,500 sq. ft. modular
building, adding 11 more classrooms and administrative space.
From small beginnings to city-wide impact, Family Christian Center continues to be a
beacon of hope in Clermont and beyond. Through every transition and milestone, the heart
of this church has remained the same: to love God, serve people, and build a community
where faith and family flourish.

LEADERSHIP HONOR
CODE COMMITMENT
As an essential part of the Family Christian Center Leadership
family, you have a responsibility to develop and exhibit mature
Christian behavior. The way we present ourselves to others is in
direct proportion to the way others perceive Christ. Our personal
conduct should never be an embarrassment to Christ, but should
always illustrate the best qualities of a mature follower of Jesus
and a servant-leader to those we lead. While serving the Body of
Christ as a servant-leader at FCC, you pledge to present a good
appearance at all times. In both attire and behavior, you should
strive to demonstrate Biblical standards in all situations. Family
Christian Center leaders are expected to maintain the highest
moral commitment and live a disciplined lifestyle of attending
church service weekly, Bible reading, prayer, and fasting.
You must also refrain from such things as:
- Profanity.
- Smoking or chewing tobacco.
- Gambling.
- Indulging in much wine or other alcoholic beverages.
- Dishonest gain.
- Illegal drugs.
- Pornography.
- Sexual immorality.
- All behaviors that might grieve the Holy Spirit and cause others to stumble.
By providing an example in speech and action, we encourage
others to grow in Christ and become servant-leaders themselves.
This is a way of life measured by the heart and commitment of
each leader in the Family Christian Center family. We should
regard it as an essential part of our development, not as an
imposition or restriction.
