Champion City Church

Worship Director

Gibsonton, Florida

OVERVIEW

We are looking for a Spirit-led Worship Leader who can build culture, develop people, and lead our church into God's presence with excellence and humility.

THE CHAMPION CITY CHURCH STORY

In 2011, Pastor Bruce made an impromptu trip to Florida. After returning to Ohio, he couldn’t shake a persistent thought: “What if we started a church in Florida?” It weighed on him day and night until, after a week of wrestling, he finally shared his heart with Christal. Together, they entered a season of prayer and fasting. Through a series of confirmations, God made it clear— He was calling them to move to Florida and plant Champion City Church.

In 2012, the Hall family sold nearly everything they owned (except the kids!) and packed what they could into their cars, taking the biggest step of faith they had ever taken. They first spent two years in Fort Myers, Florida, learning about church planting. In the summer of 2014, they moved to Tampa to begin the process of planting Champion City Church.

On February 26, 2017, Champion City Church officially launched, and the vision God placed in their hearts came to life. Today, Pastors Bruce and Christal count it an honor to serve the people of Champion City and the greater Tampa/Riverview area.

Champion City currently gathers approximately 300 people, including adults and children. The church is in a healthy season, having stabilized after multiple location changes tied to school renovations, allowing the congregation to build with greater consistency. Located in the South Shore and Riverview corridor—one of the fastest-growing areas in the Tampa Bay region—the church is seeing this growth reflected in a rising number of young families. Its location just off a major highway exit provides strong accessibility for people moving into the area.

Beyond the growth around them, Champion City is building structure for the growth they see coming. The church is strengthening its assimilation pathway—from first-time guests to Next Steps to serving and groups—so people do not just attend, but truly belong. They are also investing in Kids Ministry systems, including volunteers, safety, and environments to better care for families, while making a focused push to elevate the worship ministry in excellence, leadership, and consistency.

Since launching, Champion City has met in several locations:

February 2017 – October 2017: Quinta Middle School – Riverview, Florida

October 2017 – March 2018: Sheraton Hotel – Tampa, Florida

March 2018 – September 2018: Shared church facility – Brandon, Florida

September 2018 – Present: East Bay High School – Gibsonton, Florida

Through every transition and season, Champion City Church continues to move forward in faith, serving its community and building a church where people can belong and grow.
