THE RELEVANT CHURCH STORY
Pastor Carl Nichols is the visionary leader and shepherd of Relevant Church. He and Julie grew up not far from Locust Grove and moved there to launch the church in 2010. Under their guidance and unwavering commitment to faith, Relevant Church has grown into a vibrant spiritual community, whose impact extends beyond the church walls. They are spiritual leaders and passionate advocates for justice and compassion. Together with the Relevant Church community, they are championing the cause of human trafficking rescue and rehabilitation.
As Lead Pastor, Carl’s primary responsibilities include weekly teaching, leadership development, and directional leadership of the church. In addition, Carl helps direct the Church Leadership Network, a national leadership development network for pastors and church leaders, and a national church planting initiative.
As the Executive Director of Culture and Development, Julie works to ensure that Relevant’s staff, leadership, and programs align with the church’s mission, vision, values, and culture.
Together, Carl and Julie have two boys that they homeschool, and love to travel with and create experiences together as a family. Carl loves sports, especially the Braves, Falcons, Hawks, and Dawgs. Julie loves shopping and dreaming big for her family and her church. They are both excited for what God has in store for Relevant Church!
RELEVANT CHURCH
CORE VALUES
- RELENTLESS SACRIFICE: We are spiritual contributors, not spiritual consumers. We will always put others above our agenda.
- EVERYTHING JESUS: We will place our trust in Someone, not something, because He said He would never leave us or forsake us. His Word, the Bible, is our guide to life and godliness.
- LIMITLESS GENEROSITY: We cannot outgive God.
- EVERYONE ALWAYS: God did everything short of sin to reach us, so we will do everything short of sin to reach others.
- VISIONARY LEADERSHIP: We will play hard but work harder because excellence honors God and inspires people. We will be intentional in our efforts to remain “on mission” in everything we do.
- AUTHENTIC COMMUNITY: We will peel back the masks because authenticity paves the way for authentic relationships. Relationships are vital because you cannot do life alone.
- NEXT STEP, BEST STEP: We believe everybody has a “next step,” and reaching your full potential in Jesus Christ relies on taking the next best step.
- TRANSFORMATIONAL ENVIRONMENT: We will embrace our limitations because they inspire our greatest creativity and innovation. In doing so, we create environments; God changes lives.
