THE MOUNTAIN VIEW CHURCH STORY
Can you imagine starting a church with no money, no people, and no building? Crazy as it sounds, that’s exactly how Mountain View began. The first official meeting took place with
10 people under a gazebo in Johnson Ranch. Those 10 people desired to begin a culturally relevant and Biblically accurate church in the San Tan Valley and Queen Creek area.
Within a few months, the new gathering of people outgrew the gazebo. The church decided it was time to launch its first official service at Johnson Ranch Elementary. In 2002,
Mountain View held its first service in the school cafeteria/auditorium. As land prices continued to increase, the 50+ attendees decided to step out in faith and purchase land for
a future building. That group was able to find six acres on Hunt Highway. After continuing to meet in the local elementary for a few more years, the weekly attendance began to
approach 200 people. The church decided it was time to build a permanent home on its current property. The church built a 250-seat worship center and an 11,000-square-foot
children’s facility for Leading Edge Academy.
In 2011, construction began on a 20,000-square-foot multi-use facility. During this time, the founding Pastor resigned his service at Mountain View. In May 2012, Pastor Daniel Voss
accepted the position of Lead Pastor. In 2016, construction began on a new 30,000- square-foot children’s center and K-8 grade school for Leading Edge Academy. In 2021,
MV surpassed 2,000 baptisms and 5,000 in attendance on Easter weekend! Today, they have baptized over 2,800 people and have an average of 2,500 people each
weekend with 1,500 online. They are currently building a new Worship Center that will seat 1,400 and has a lobby space that is over 6,000 sq. feet. Along with classrooms for adults, preschool, nursery, and an indoor playground. A bridge will also be built that will connect both sides of the campus.
The Queen Creek/San Tan Valley area is one of the fastest- growing areas in the United States and over 2,000 homes are being built within 10 miles of the church. This uniquely positions Mountain View Church to impact the community for Jesus.
