THE RIVERS CROSSING CHURCH STORY
Rivers Crossing was launched in September 2007 by Paul Taylor who
remains the Lead Pastor today. The church launched, meeting at Kings High
School and then in December 2011, they transitioned into a movie theater that
they purchased one mile from the high school. After minor renovations, they
started meeting there on Easter of 2012. The church has done two additional
rounds of renovations, with further expansion of their auditorium in the
planning phase. They have a second campus approximately 12 miles from this
location.
From the beginning, they have been blessed with an annual growth rate of
around 25%. Their passion is to reach people who don’t have a personal
relationship with Jesus and over the past 15 years have seen 6,000+ people
make a decision to follow Jesus. It’s for this reason, they believe they will
continue to be positioned for growth.
A few other distinctives about Rivers Crossing are their passion for church
planting and for balance. They just completed their initiative to plant ten
churches in ten years and are in the planning stages of starting a formal
church planting network. Their passion for balance is best described in this
core value: “We strive to be a church of fully engaged followers of Jesus
Christ that focuses on the essential truths of the scriptures by preaching and
teaching the whole counsel of God. We will passionately pursue both grace
and truth while being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit.”
Rivers Crossing is an exciting place to be right now!
RIVERS CROSSING
MISSION & VALUES
Our vision is that we will be a community of ordinary people seeking
extraordinary lives.
We exist to give people an opportunity to be fully engaged followers of Christ.
VALUE STATEMENTS
- Balance: We strive to be a church of fully engaged followers of Jesus
Christ that focuses on the essential truths of the scriptures by preaching
and teaching the whole counsel of God. We will passionately pursue both
grace and truth while being led and empowered by the Holy Spirit. - Simplicity: The good news of Jesus’ message is profound and
challenging, but not complicated. We will focus our time, energy and
resources on targeted ministries (our weekend services, missions,
children’s ministries, student ministries, and community groups) to
maximize our impact locally and globally. - Journey: Saying yes to Jesus is not the end but the beginning of a lifelong
journey of discipleship. We will embrace people wherever they are on
their spiritual journey, pointing them to Jesus as the source of an
extraordinary life and calling them to commit their lives to following Him. - Mission: A missional community reflects God’s heart to go to the least,
last, and lost people of their community and the world. We are committed
to reproducing missional churches through church planting and
supporting church planters. - Loving Community: Jesus said that the world would know his followers
by the love they had for each other. We are a community learning how to
love each other and those who are seeking a relationship with God. - Worship and Creativity: Worship is much more than “group singing,” it is
a lifestyle of expressing our love to God through our actions, lifestyle and
work. We believe that when fully engaged followers of Jesus gather for
corporate worship their creative expressions of love towards God are
experienced through art, film, music, design, Christ-centered preaching
and more.
