THE CITY OF LIFE CHURCH STORY

We began with 30 people in 1986, founded and led by Doctors Gary and Janis Smith. Under their vision and leadership, what started in a small building with a handful of people expanded over the course of twenty-five years into a multicultural, vibrant, multi-thousand-member church. In the midst of a period of explosive growth and spiritual revival in 2009, Drs. Gary & Janis were led by God to transition the senior leadership of the church to their son and daughter-in-law, Jeffrey and Amy Smith. Pastors Jeffrey & Amy are leading City of Life into its fourth decade with a passion for building the church, reaching the lost, and making the hope of Jesus known.

JOB SUMMARY

Our church is seeking a Worship Pastor who can cultivate a Christ-centered, engaging, and spiritually authentic worship environment. This role is responsible for planning and leading weekly worship services, developing and discipling the worship team, and fostering a culture of excellence, unity, and genuine worship. The ideal candidate is a strong vocalist and musician, a team builder, and someone who carries both spiritual maturity and a heart for leading people into the presence of God. They will collaborate closely with pastoral leadership to ensure worship aligns with the vision, culture, and mission of our church.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Plan and lead worship for weekly services in alignment with the church’s mission and vision.
• Select, arrange, and prepare songs for services and special gatherings.
• Coordinate and lead rehearsals for vocalists and band members.
• Build, train, and develop new worship team members, including vocalists and musicians.
• Guide and shepherd the worship team, fostering spiritual growth and musical excellence.
• Create a worship atmosphere that supports the church’s mission and encourages engagement.
• Collaborate closely with pastoral staff and ministry leaders.
• Ensure worship services run smoothly and are executed with excellence.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum of two (2) years of related ministry experience OR two (2) years of college.
• Thorough knowledge of music required.
• Ability to play keyboard or guitar preferred.
• Strong musical and vocal skills required.
• Several years of experience leading worship in a church or ministry setting.
• Proven experience planning and leading services, directing worship teams, and mentoring musicians and vocalists.
• Experience in team building and collaboration with pastoral staff.
• Strong speaker and preacher.
