THE CORNERSTONE CHURCH STORY

Cornerstone began in 1983. A local Baptist church let their pastor
go, so he left the church and began Cornerstone Church with about
50 people from his previous congregation.
The present pastor was hired in 1985. He has served for 39 years as
the senior pastor. Cornerstone built its first sanctuary in 1988. They
proceeded to build an educational wing in 1995. They completed
their current 1000-seat sanctuary in 2001. Their final building
program was a youth facility that was completed in 2006.
Cornerstone experienced steady growth from 1985-2012. The
church experienced a church split in 2013 that interrupted its
growth cycle. Since 2013, Cornerstone Church has planted two
churches and experienced the COVID years from 2020-2022.
Cornerstone Church is located in the beautiful Highland Township.
It is a country/rural setting in the state of Michigan.
The church is positioned for future growth because it has a great
staff, a leadership board, and a committed congregation. It is
actively engaged in reaching the next generation, leading the local
community, and supporting missionaries worldwide. Cornerstone
Church takes the Great Commission seriously. The church has a
wonderful past, and an exciting future. They believe God has great
promises for them!

JOB SUMMARY

The Youth and Young Adult Ministry Leader will be a person of
God who will passionately relaunch the Ignited Ministry
Academy. They will recruit and pursue interns to be developed
and discipled to be fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ.

HIGHLAND, MI

Highland is a family-friendly, rural community filled with lots of
lakes, parks, and horse farms located in North Oakland County. It is
a quiet beautiful setting to raise a family and develop lifelong
relationships.

We draw from a multi-generational community. Cornerstone
reaches local communities as well as worldwide to preach the
Gospel. Though there is a small-town feel, the community has
many amenities very close by. It is near Detroit, Ann Arbor, and
Lansing.
