THE LIGHTHOUSE CHURCH STORY
LightHouse Church was founded in 1971 under its original name, Gloucester
Assembly of God. In 1975, a one-acre tract was purchased on Route 17, six miles
north of the York River Bridge, where the church family worshipped in a double-
wide trailer placed on the property. In 1981, the men of the church built a new
sanctuary, which was later dedicated to the Lord. In 1984, the gym and
education building were erected, and in 1985, twenty-one additional acres were
purchased.
In 1988, the church’s name was officially changed to Lighthouse Worship Center.
Then, in September 1989, the new sanctuary was dedicated to the glory of God.
Pastors Ken and Holly Cramer became the senior pastors in 1998 after serving
as the children’s pastors for seven years. In 2016, Lighthouse Worship Center
rebranded and is now known as LightHouse Church.
The true history of the church lies in its people and families. LightHouse Church
is dedicated to worshiping God, loving people of all faiths and races,
empowering families to reach their full potential in Christ, and equipping leaders
to guide others in faith.
The church considers itself a family—truly believing in this bond. While a family
doesn’t always get everything right, they never give up on each other
LightHouse Church believes that everyone matters, regardless of their
background or story. The goal is to create Jesus-centered communities where
people love to belong. With a heart set on reaching both neighborhoods and
nations, the church is committed to taking the gospel of Jesus beyond its walls
and into the city. The church believes its strategic location along Route 17 allows
it to make a lasting impact in the area.
Relationships are highly valued within the church. The community seeks to grow
through fellowship and, ultimately, to grow closer to God. The word of God and
the leadership of the Holy Spirit are at the core of its mission, and the church
strives to extend grace to the lost and broken, guiding those without hope to the
hope of Jesus Christ.
