THE LIFEFAMILY CHURCH STORY
Randy Phillips is the founding and lead pastor of LifeFamily, with
multiple churches across the Central Texas area. He is the founding
member of the Dove Award-winning Contemporary Christian trio
Phillips, Craig, and Dean.
In 2005, with an extensive background in ministry, music, radio, and
television, Randy and his wife Denise launched the church that
would ultimately become the LifeFamily of churches.
LifeFamily is a Christian church that believes every person’s life can
be transformed through the power of Jesus Christ. LifeFamily has
locations in Austin, Texas, and the surrounding area. They offer
services online or in person. Their church is full of friendly people,
powerful praise and worship, reflective communion, and practical
messages.
Currently, LifeFamily Church has seven locations in the Austin area
with a desire and vision to grow to ten locations in Austin.

JOB SUMMARY
The Campus Pastor will be in charge and oversee the campus
and structure. The Campus Pastor will have leadership over the
campus and needs to contextualize and lead in the following
areas: weekend service preparation, campus health, staff
growth, leadership development, marketing, local vision,
community outreach, and budget. The Campus Pastor is the
primary keeper of the vision. They are responsible for the DNA
transfer of the overall church.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES
CHIEF PURPOSE OFFICER:
- Lead and develop all staff and volunteers to develop a strategy to move attendees and members through Growth Track/Next Steps/101
- Move people from the Community, to the Crowd, to the Core
PRIMARY UNDERSHEPHERD:
- Engage with large groups of attendees and members very quickly, relating to each other individually and extending care and love
- Engage relationally by meeting new people, memorizing names, making connections, and developing relational credibility
- Be a Shepherd who can transition to a Rancher (a shepherd cares for the sheep, but a rancher gathers and shepherds leaders who gather, develop, and influence others)
CHIEF OF VOLUNTEERS:
- Gather volunteers and equip them for ministry in the church. Recognize talents and gifts and call those out in people
- Lead, encourage, and develop multiple large groups of volunteers
- through one-on-one interactions and large group interactions
LEADERSHIP OF CAMPUS STAFF, PROGRAMS, AND OUTREACH:
- Responsible for all campus staff and their development
- Initiate and determine the pace of rolling out programs and ministries
- Oversee weekend worship services and weekend programs
- Develop a strategy for reaching the community and growing the church
- Develop volunteer leaders and build volunteer teams for the ministry
- Build community through connection events, social media, and more
- Build Small Groups
- Ensure campus communication
- Implement budget and oversee all financial accounts
- Ensure ongoing creative problem-solving
ESSENTIAL DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES
TEACHING AND PASTORAL OVERSIGHT:
- Oversee all volunteer huddles
- Oversee Leader Nights
- Preach when asked by the Lead Pastor
- Oversee Class Systems: Growth Track/Next Steps/101
PASTORAL CARE:
- Shepherd the congregation: counseling, hospital visits, weddings, funerals, etc
WEEKEND WORSHIP SERVICE PLANNING:
- Work with the team (consistent with church worship philosophy) to weekly determine how that campus will engage in worship
HEALTH/GROWTH PLAN:
- Work to maintain campus health so they can reach the community and contextually accomplish the vision
STAFFING:
- Work with HR to strategically hire the right staff (within a full-time equivalent matrix) to build an effective campus staff team (character, chemistry, competence, and calling)
LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT:
- Lead, manage, and develop the campus staff. Build, develop, and mobilize lay leaders as they assess and build ministry infrastructure necessary for growth and health
MARKETING:
- Work with the central marketing support to develop an ongoing marketing plan to tell the community who they are and what is happening at the campus
LOCAL VISION (MICRO):
- Find the campus’s specific vision as a church body to reach the community

COMMUNITY NETWORKER:
- Meet and know key community leaders
- Identify ways to serve the community and invite the community into the church
BUDGET AND COST CONTROL:
- Work with Central Support to finalize annual payroll and property expenses
- Plan for and steward the campus’s budget for the greatest possible impact
PLANNING:
- Decide how the campus will spend its time and resources each year consistent with the vision, congregational health, and goals
- Plan events, budgets, expansion, staffing, growth, health, etc
MINISTRY DEVELOPMENT:
- Decide when and how ministries will be started, grown, and cared for
PASTORAL LEADERSHIP:
- Decide how the campus will be led to achieve its God-sized vision
CENTRAL LEADERSHIP:
- Have a strong voice at the overall leadership table
- Participate in regular CP and staff meetings
CONNECTOR IN CHIEF:
- Work with the teams to mobilize and encourage our MOST PRIZED asset – people (volunteers)
- Always engage with people to help them find a place to belong
